ASCENDtials Connects to Ancestral Heritage through ASCEND to Kemet and ASCENDKemet Farmers’ Market

In Kemetic spirituality, an ancient Egyptian system, cycles were paramount. This is because the Nile River in ancient Egypt flooded every year, giving life and fertility to the Egyptian soil. Egyptians knew from their dealings with the Nile’s life-giving properties that cycles occurred: harvest came and went.

In the Northern Hemisphere, during the summer months, we must remember this cycle: this year, we will have an abundance of fresh crops. Like the ancient Egyptians, we should cherish this abundance gifted through the cycle rather than fight against it. And, like the Kemetic people, we should recognize our inner cycles and how they connect with natural forces. Rebirth and Renewal are always at play worldwide, with fresh fruits and vegetables blooming every late spring and summer.

At the center of Kemetic spirituality is Maat. Maat “represents cosmic order and ethical conduct within spirituality, guiding us through life in the best of ways”- Enlightened Editions. The truth is paramount: the fact is that all beings have souls and deserve a just life- “reality grounds itself in what is true and fair.” A person planted firmly in reality and truth will naturally strive for justice. With our events, we hope to uplift and unite the community by healing the inner soul and the outer world.

This year, join us at our ASCENDKemet Collective Certified Farmers’ Market and ASCEND to Kemet Fest to recognize our abundance and cycles and appreciate the natural abundance of food during the summer in July.

• 20 to 40-minute workshops featuring Yoga, poetry, and art that center on holistic thinking, familial values, and knowledge of self.

• An acceptance into the SNAP Program making our fresh goods more accessible.

The ASCEND to Kemet Fest is an opportunity to unite the youth and elders in an engaging agenda of activities such as Kemetic Yoga, poetry, and artistic expression that highlight the wisdom of our ancestral practices designed to elevate wellness. The workshops will range from 20 to 40 minutes and center on holistic thinking, familial values, and knowledge of self — the core tenets of this vibrant culture. This fest will include live musicians, cultural performers, such as Rameses “r3sh” Setekh, and diverse foods, such as traditional African cuisine.
